These institutions admit students depending up on their marks in various entrance exams. The top 10 colleges for engineering in Hyderabad are as follows:

1.International Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad), Gachibowli

The International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT Hyderabad) is an Information technology research university based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It was the first autonomous private institute of its kind to be established in 1997. IIITH is one of the top Computer Science institutes of the country. It emphasizes research from the undergraduate level. It has been a consistent performer from India in ACM International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC); it has been sending teams to ICPC World Finals since last 7 consecutive years and finished at #18 in 2012.

The institute runs Computer Science courses and research projects and is focused on research. It gives the students interaction with industry, preparation in entrepreneurship and personality development courses. 2. Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad ( IIT Hyderabad), Kandi village

The Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IIT Hyderabad, IITH) is a public university located in Medak district, Telangana, India. IIT Hyderabad is one of the eight new Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 which declares these eight IITs as well as the conversion of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University to IIT. The Act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24 March 2011and by the Rajya Sabha on 30 April 2012. IIT Hyderabad has 826 UGs, 395 masters and 474 Ph.D. students. IITH has 142 full-time faculty. All the academic and administrative operations were shifted to permanent campus at Kandi, Sangareddy in July 2015, although a fraction of students stay at temporary campus at ODF. All the students are expected to shift to permanent campus by the start of academic year 2016-2017. IITH is the top seventh premiere institute among the all the technical institutions of India in 2016 as per MHRD rankings.

3. BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus- Shamirpet

Birla Institute of Technology & Science, Pilani – Hyderabad Campus (shortened to BITS Pilani, Hyderabad Campus or BPHC) is a technical and science institute for higher education in India, located at Hyderabad, Telangana, India. One of the 4 campuses of the university BITS Pilani, it was started in 2008 with the first batch graduating in 2012.

BITS does not implement any State-based quotas during admission. Seeing that the institute has never been affiliated to a faith, there are no religion-based or caste-based quotas either.

The campus is spread over 220 acres. The central library and auditorium are part of this complex. The campus has laboratories for science and engineering. In front of the academic block is a rock garden that is the inspiration for the name of the college magazine, On The Rocks.

4. JNTU Hyderabad, Kukatpally

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad (JNTU Hyderabad) is a public university, located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India, and one of the India’s leading educational university focusing on engineering. Founded in 1965 as the Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College, it was established as a university in 1972 by The Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Act, 1972.
